EL MELÓMANO ALEMÁN

El Melomano Aleman, also known as Tonton Sculp, is a Berlin-based artist with a deep passion for Latin American music. His musical journey began in 2008, when he attended weekly Latin nights at a local bar in Kreuzberg, where he was introduced to Salsa and other genres by DJ collective La Chusma member, Tio Chango. This experience sparked an interest that led to the development of El Melomano Aleman, particularly in traditional Colombian Cumbia with Gaitas. In 2017, he embarked on a journey to Colombia to immerse himself in the birthplaces of the music he loved. This trip further fueled his passion for Latin American rhythms, leading him to develop a serious interest in Salsa music instrumentally and rhythmically. Contra rhythms now form the core of his musical preferences, with Latin American rhythms becoming his primary focus. His collection of vinyls, especially of Salsa music, began in 2018. The way Salsa is celebrated, cultivated, and conserved in Cali, Colombia, represents a paradise for him.
