Electric Indigo

Electric Indigo, also known as Christine Schneiderhausen, is a multifaceted artist working in the realms of music composition, DJing, and electronic music. Known for her intelligent interpretation of techno and electronic music, she began her career as a DJ in Vienna in 1989 and later worked at Hard Wax record store in Berlin from 1993 to 1996. In 1998, Schneiderhausen founded female:pressure, an international database for female, non-binary, and transgender artists in the fields of electronic music and digital arts. Her contributions earned her an Honorary Mention at Prix Ars Electronica 2009 and an 'outstanding artist award' in the category Computer Music from the Austrian Ministry for Arts and Culture in 2012. Schneiderhausen creates music for concert spaces, clubs, and occasionally stage plays and short films. Her compositions and live performances emphasize the spatial-temporal placement of subtly elaborated sounds and structures, often generated from speech recordings. Electric Indigo frequently collaborates with her husband, Robert Henke.
