Stephen Taylor, known by his username stephenpaultaylor, is a Canadian artist with a deep affinity for Eighties music. His love for synths and bands like Depeche Mode, OMD, and Gary Numan shaped his musical journey. After graduating from Emily Carr Art University, he chose to pursue music full-time in 2009 as part of the duo Trike. In 2013, Taylor branched off and went solo, gaining viral fame with "EKSF." Since then, he has released several albums and EPs, including "People Tonight" (LP), "Single and 17" (EP), and "Synthpop is Dead" (LP). His latest single, "Craving My Affection," was released in 2023 and features influences from Synthwave and The Weeknd's "Blinding Lights." Taylor's upcoming single boasts prestigious collaborators: Preston Heyman (Kate Bush’s drummer) as producer and Derrick McIntyre (Jamiroquai) on bass, contributing to three songs from his forthcoming album. His sound can be described as a blend of Synthpop, Trap, Pop, Electropop, and Dance, with a moody and emotional edge.
