Rah & The Ruffcats (Konzert)

The Ruffcats, an eight-piece live band from Berlin, have established themselves as Germany's hardest working group in the realm of heavy funk and progressive soul. Known for their collaborations with artists such as Flo Mega, Bajka, Jaguar Wright, and Ladi6, they have played over 250 gigs together. Stepping into the limelight as a main act, The Ruffcats recently released their debut album "The Essence Pt.1". Influenced by hip-hop, soul, psych, jazz, Sa Ra Creative Partners, Dilla, Manfred Krug, Can, and UK future bass, they strive to create new grooves in an analogue manner. Intriguingly, the album was partly born out of spontaneous jam sessions at Lovelite studios in Berlin. Over four days, the band recorded a full album with Jochen Stroh, Lovelite's owner, who became an unofficial member during the process. Stroh has previously worked with Ebo Taylor and hosted notable artists like the Whitefield Brothers, Tony Allen, and Blitz the Ambassador at his studio. "The Essence Pt. 1" showcases a band that honors the past while pushing their own boundaries to create something fresh and exciting. The musical spectrum encompasses raw funk, afro-beat, jazz, psych, and latin, played with a 2012 hip-hop mindset.
